EZ Classified Advertizing™ SOP, category stylebook

When someone wants to know more about your services, s/he will want to know where you are located and what you offer. Since ads are sorted alphabetically by title, similar services are sorted together. Since the title field is searchable, someone can find your company simply by typing in your specialty.

This category contains several different specific services, so identify the generic subject as the first word in your ad. For instance, if you offer web site hosting and design, say: Internet, web hosting. You could also provide a separate listing which begins: Web site design

Other search parameters: business name, zip code (both 3 digit and 5 digit), price, free items and new items. If you have questions, please use e-mail contact button.

Advertising copy - best slogan contest

About 65 years ago, a little old lady from Wisconsin, who had worked in and around her family dairy farms since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation noticed canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores. (in the 1940s) She read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan.

The producers wanted a rhyme beginning with "Carnation Milk is best of all."

She thought to herself, "I know everything there is to know about milk and dairy farms. I can do this!"

She sent in her entry, and several weeks later a black car pulled up in front of her house.

A large man got out, knocked on her door, and told her, "Ma'am, the president of Carnation milk absolutely LOVE your entry. So much, in fact, we are here to award you $1,000, even though we will not be able to use it for our advertisements!"

He did, however, have one printed up to hang on his office wall. (You can see it at the web link below. Look for ad id#RAWKLU.19305)

Article V of the US Constitution

The federal government is broken. Career politicians in Washington will never limit their own power.

Our Founding Fathers entrusted us -- the American people -- with authority to call a Convention of States to propose amendments to limit federal power.

The U.S. Constitution dictates  everything not specifically designated to the federal government should be entrusted to the states.

That's not what’s happening today. Most states only control 40% of issues pertaining to their own money -- unelected bureaucrats decide the rest.

Sixty percent of the time… someone sitting in an office on the other side of the country… who was never even elected… makes decisions that directly impact your life.

Mark Levin says, "Today the federal government is the nation's largest creditor, lender, employer, consumer, grantor, property owner, tenant, insurer, healthcare provider, and pension guarantor: Does that sound like limited government to you?"

The Founders left a solution as big as the problem.

Now it's time to use the power entrusted to the states in Article V, to propose amendments to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on Congress, staffers, and bureaucrats.

Mark Meckler comment, “This is the battle of our generation.”

It only takes 34 states to make it happen, and twelve are already onboard. We're closing in on victory. Find out more, click the video button. You can skip the ad in 3 seconds.

♦ Classified SOP, category stylebook - Acceptable ads

One would think acceptable advertising content would not have to have an exhaustive list of that which will not be accepted. But in this day and age, some folks will think of options we have not considered.

All ads we post are subject to our approval and we will look diligently for those which are not appropriate. Click on the "Website Link:" below and in a case like this one, we would hope to catch it so it would not have been posted and then we would follow up and forward all information we have to the proper authorities.

Colonel Bogey March

Hitler, he only had one ball,
Goering had two but they were small.
Himmler had something simmler,
And Keitel was too close to call.
Rommel, has four or five, I guess,
No one's quite sure 'bout Rudolf Hess.
Schmelling, was always yelling,
And Mister Goe-balls had no balls at all.

Players, participants always challenge themselves to improve their skill and often want a bench mark to have some idea how they compare with others. They do not want to be embarrassed when they are significantly different than a new opponent.

Often a handicap system helps sort or rank players and there are few handicap systems which make players of different skills even. Golf and bowling are two that seem to come close.

Could Oswald fire 3 shots in 5.6 seconds using the Carcano bolt action rifle from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository?

By: Stephen Binion, Truck Driver, former Marine, rtd Guard Cavalryman

Masaad Ayoob is a police chief and police trainer. He was of the belief Oswald couldn’t do it. In a class he taught on forensic re-enactment none of the right handed shooters could do it.

Oswald was right handed, but left eye dominant. Oswald shot left handed. Every lefty in Ayoob’s class made the shots in the timeframe Oswald did.

I too was a Marine like Oswald. Marines are better shots than 90 percent of the men you meet on the street.

I went to Deally plaza when I lived in Dallas. I literally laughed out loud at a conspiracy nut talking about impossible shots fired by Oswald. His LONGEST SHOT was 88 yards. I could have made those shots with my Ruger Blackhawk revolver in .41 Magnum.

I’m Sure That Some People Didn’t Like Working With Me Or For Me Because Of My Race

"I’m Sure That Some People Didn’t Like Working With Me Or For Me Because Of My Race": A Conversation With Ken Coleman

Ken Coleman, 69, has been a tech pioneer in Silicon Valley before "disrupting" was even a cliché. He became an executive at Hewlett-Packard in the '70s, and a decade later hired a summer intern named Ben Horowitz at Silicon Graphics.

Horowitz, of course, went onto investing fame and fortune and has since brought his mentor on board as an advisor to his own firm, Andreessen Horowitz. In the wake of our look at Tristan Walker and the persistent problem of race in tech hiring, we talked to Coleman about his career, what his experience in the field has been, and what he thinks should change. Coleman is still "optimistic," despite it all. "The great thing about technology," he says, "is it creates opportunities for everybody."

It Wasn’t a Hot Movie Summer

If you thought about going to the movies over the Labor Day weekend, you might’ve noticed a lean lineup (no offense to Gerard Butler or Angel Has Fallen, which led the North American box office with a worse-than-expected $14.8 million in sales).

That’s because Labor Day has become Hollywood’s “movie graveyard,” a weekend to dump just-okay films and mourn the end of summer, per The Week. But this Labor Day capped off an especially brutal summer at the box office. Relative to 2018...

Ticket sales are down 6.4% year-to-date in North America.
Box office revenue from the first weekend in May to Labor Day (a stretch that can account for up to 40% of annual ticket sales) dipped 2% to $4.3 billion.
So what’s going on?
The big picture: There are better, cheaper options. Anyone who’s been on a second date knows average ticket prices jumped to $9.11 last year (and that’s about half the standard ticket cost in NYC or LA).

Plus, subscription plans like MoviePass (RIP) gave consumers a taste of steeply discounted theater prices.
And streaming giants have snatched up talent at a premium...while putting a smaller dent in cinephiles’ wallets. Two movie tickets = Netflix and Disney+ for a month. Add in two small popcorns and a drink and you’re nearing a down payment.

The even bigger picture: It’s the economy. Lower out-of-home entertainment spending on experiences such as movie theaters could point to broader economic fragility, Moody’s told the NYT. A slip in recreational spending “reflects greater caution by consumers.”

FYI: Attendance at national parks, baseball games, Broadway shows, and Disney theme parks is also down.
Looking ahead...the next few months could make up for a slow summer. Some big hits on the schedule, including the latest Star Wars installment, Frozen 2, Joker, and It: Chapter 2, might be the holiday miracle studios need.

Prospective: partners, players, sponsors, suppliers, venders - US Open umbrella

I don’t want to be redundant so here are the main points I mentioned. I have built the systems which can function behind the scenes for this project. The aim is to bring together these partners:
Manufacturers
Retailers
Players (pro)
Participants/spectators

Trade shows are valuable for manufacturers and retailers but expense often outweighs benefits and too often the big guys take over and without the little guys the picture isn’t complete.

Seasonal patterns have not changed much so retailers have time in January and February to do research. Venues are often not occupied fully so welcome new business.

Object is not to persuade the same players to switch activities but increase the pool of players and participants. With security problems and changing areas of interest, funding projects by participants rather than ticket buyers. Destination attractions are a bonus.

Tools: (based on data base which has unlimited content, designed for efficiency and simplicity - target to only display current and relevant data)

You've visited this page many times. Last visit: 5/8/19

I have visited it many times because I want to know when it no longer is in first place. The reason it is in first place (with 600 active “friends”) is likely that Google has a very sophisticated system to wade through all the charlatans who claim SEO will get this result. What gets the result is something that works as designed and this is proof how it can be done.

My guess is they also know how people use it, which is also part of the design.

Good ideas produce results:
Jerry Jontry was Nixon Newspapers advertising manager prior to publisher of Esquire magazine and established the Wabash Gladiolus Festival
Gladiolus Flower Bulbs | Glads | American Meadows
https://www.americanmeadows.com/flower-bulbs/gladiolus-flower-bulbs

I don’t remember how many years it worked in Wabash, but the idea carried over to John Martin Smith, Jack Randinelli, Bob Kokenge and I to persuade the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club to stay around Labor Day weekend about 50 years ago and they still have 100,000 visitors and have completely restored the old factory. My next door neighbor was an auctioneer and the contract stipulated 10% of the auction proceeds would fund the factory and show room restoration.

If you go to this link:
http://www.radioad.org/wtri/classifieds/index.php

You will see little posted because there is an automatic expiration on each listing so to continue to be posted, someone has to review the content and change the expiration date. (Naturally it isn’t a fool proof system but works well enough to get at the top of the Google search)

This link indicates how to list player information. (I will have to go back and update the listings to demonstrate how to rank players and teams. The ranking is based on skill so it will include both genders, although that will be an id so you can make a separate list of each gender.
http://www.radioad.org/wtri/classifieds/listings.php?catcode=Associates

This link shows the Indiana Trademark certificate for the pickleball name. I haven’t registered other names except “US Open Indoor Championships” which is still in the process. At the bottom of the listing is the championship ring design.
http://www.radioad.org/wtri/classifieds/listings.php?catcode=DMN

I don’t know if you have a chance to look up the old tv series:
Have Gun - Will Travel (TV Series 1957–1963) - IMDb
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050025/

Created by Herb Meadow, Sam Rolfe. With Richard Boone, Kam Tong, Hal Needham, Stewart East. The adventures of a gentlemanly gunfighter for hire.

but it could be an interesting theme to use for participants. Might also be worth some promotion to have anyone who has a badge or membership card to get special rates for the retail partners.

As I mentioned, I have a few other ideas about how to get it to work...without me doing the details, which I am not very good at.

Eagles Nest...the management was not happy with this project I didn’t start but said I would help. I offered to discontinue the effort if he board requested, and here’s the feedback. (I think the same kind of response would come from eager participants and ask anyone who has been at the Naples pickleball event about its popularity you would get  a similar response...link:
http://www.radioad.org/whmbtv/classifieds/listings.php?catcode=Ideas%2C+thinking

Let me know how I can help...

by the way, here’s a killer idea I have already initiated. When I was hoping to get Indiana companies interested in working together to celebrate Indiana’s 200th birthday in 2016, Red Gold is an Indiana company based in Elwood and their principal product is tomato juice and other products. They would be an ideal ball sponsor. They could easily shrink wrap a pickleball on top of a tomato can. Suspect we could also make it a color that would be complementary. It could be used as a discount for any of our events. And it is nationally distributed.

And Old National Bank would also be an ideal sponsor...I think that are headquartered in Evansville and know French Lick well through sponsoring other activities.

Re: Message to the board
Janie Rea
Hi Don
Seeing your picture in my email weekly makes it feel like we’ve met but I don’t think we have had the occasion.  My parents bought Eagle’s Nest back in the 70s and my family had been coming to Marco Island through their ownership. I don’t recall when we took over but we now own the condo for week 2 since, maybe, the 90s.

I don’t know if you were looking for responses to this email but I have to say that I was quite happy when I heard about the Friendship List and have used it. I found the process of dealing with the owners directly easy and manageable. I think owners are happy to know that another owner is benefitting from their inability to use the week(s).  It also provides the owner with a monetary benefit. I have not ever tried to rent additional time from management but would imagine there is an additional cost as they need to make money to pay their staff; direct rental through the owner is like buying a house without the realtor expense.

That’s my take on this for what it’s worth.  I appreciate the amount of work it is for you to maintain the listings especially since you have had some technical issues recently. As an owner of one week I will defer to others who have several weeks of ownership at this great place.

Maybe we will meet sometime.  If not, thank you for your efforts with the List.

I vote to keep the list because it is OUR property and not our job to
make their job easier.  Does she think she can tell us what color to
paint our front door at home?  Did we buy Eagle's Nest to make the best
rental deal for Hilton or for us, the owner?

David Anderson
What you do is a kind service to the owners.  A person could always offer their units on other web sites if desired and the effect on the staff would be the same?

Kristine Lee
Don,
Thank you for doing what must be a pretty thankless and time-consuming job. I've subscribed to your list for quite a while and used it for a rental for the first time this year, and am in the process of renting again for next year. I own week 43 (30 years now) and have never rented or traded it. I just need a little more Eagle's Nest in my life. I do think you provide a valuable service. I know this cuts EN out of making a commission, but I, for one, am grateful for what you do.
Thank you,
Kris Lee

DONALD
Dear Don,

We as owners appreciate all that you have done to provide a service for us as owners. I feel your service benefits the owners first before the renter who comes in off the street wishing to spend the night at Eagle's Nest.
Last year we were able to rent two weeks from your list in units that we knew were ADA since I am a paraplegic in a power chair and can no longer use our tower unit.  The owner in turn got the full amount of the rental instead of 2/3 of it and it benefited the owner as well as the renter!  We were not able to find a renter for our week so we deposited with II for a trade which we are using this May.
This is a wonderful service you have provided for the owners and I hope you will not give it up!
Gratefully,  Donna Shiflet

Joyce and I will be at Eagles Nest weeks 10---13. We support what you are doing as I know many other owners will too. What I can't stand is our new Director CANDY and all her Facebook CRAP I get. I have dropped my Facebook account do to all her garbage. Two years ago I had open heart surgery and put 2 of my weeks up for rent with you. Within a day I had them rented.  Your listings are greatly appreciated.

As owners  of 9 weeks @ EN I find the Friendship List extremely helpful & would not like to see it go away. It’s a real service to the owners.
Would like to know why Mona feels it makes her job harder.

You are providing owners a very valuable service.  Through this service owners can work directly with other owners on pricing their units for rent.   Eagles Nest does not offer this service.  If putting up our unit through Eagles Nest there  is a set price and we as owners have no say to who rents our unit.  Many times we just want to pay our annual fees through renting the unit when we are not able to use the unit.  Through Eagles Nest we may end up not getting. Rental at all because of their set pricing per day or per week.  Your service is  available to all.  Unfortunately, Eagles Nest does not allow all owners to learn about the service.
Please keep doing what you are doing in support of the owners.

Regis Brodie
Dear Don,
I find the "Friendship list" to be very helpful. It gives us an opportunity to add a week from a member or make one available. I do not understand the problem.

Will you explain the problem? I am confused.

I assume that is voluntary to be on your list. Do you get your email list directly from the staff?

I do not see what the issue as it is designed to be a friendship listing helping to get & give information. It can be valuable to all of our owners.

Thank you for your work & efforts on our behalf.
Be well, Regis Brodie (week 3 & 4)

Hanson, Gary
Don, I am very much a fan of this Friendship List and I encourage you to keep it going. I disagree that this is detrimental to eagles nest, though hearing Mona's position would be interesting. There are certainly other web sites doing the same thing, albeit for a fee. Your list brings important flexibility for owners to easily match weeks with their personal schedules and that then allows additional family members to rent the same weeks. Limiting those options, or leaving me with an unused week, does not make for happy owners. Also I think staff or sales people unnecessarily make what they have available difficult to determine as they won't post exact dates and prices, despite how convenient technology makes things. I strongly encourage you to stay the course. Competition and "free press" are good for all of us. Thanks for listening and for the service you provide.
Gary Hanson

Tony Smith
Don, please keep the Eagle's Nest distribution list up and going.  I find it very informative and helpful as a owner.  It is also helpful in helping other owners trying to get extra units for friends and family at a pretty good price.
Tony Smith

Joel Russell
Dear Don,
My name is Joel Russell and my wife and I own two weeks (3&4) at Eagles Nest. Both of us believe that the Friendship List provides very valuable information that is not available readily in any other format. We hope that you will continue to inform us with this very useful tool that provides opportunities for the Eagles Nest owners. Personally I believe that Mona has overstepped her bounds in suggesting that your efforts are not in the owners best interest, which clearly is not the case.
Thank you for all your time and effort in providing this valuable E N Friendship List.
Joel Russell   636-938-5578

Jon Udell
Dear Don:
I joined a group of 8 owners this morning to discuss your recent communication.  We vigorously and unanimously agreed that you provide Eagle's Nest owners a wonderful service that would be greatly missed if you were to terminate your site.  Please continue and we THANK YOU for the valuable service you provide.
Jon

PS  We would appreciate your posting the following:

and then this following follow up:  Wanted listings
Jon Udell
Hi Don,
Thanks for posting the notice so promptly.  Within minutes, I received a call and unit 406 in week 52 is now rented!   In the process, I'm receiving more money than I would have if we'd rented it through Hilton G. V., and another Eagle's Nest owner is renting it for substantially less than it would have cost if he'd rented it through HGV.

Therefore, two owners have benefitted from your site.  S0--thank you again for your service; I would like to buy you a lunch or dinner the next time we are both at the Eagle's Nest.  (We're usually here in weeks 1-11.)

Have a good year.

Jon Udell

Jon Empson
Don...thanks so much. We rented week 52, #406 from Jon. Another example of the great service you are providing.

What is the best way to say good bye to someone with stage 4 cancer?

What is the best way to say good bye to someone with stage 4 cancer?
By: Joanne Patterson, Ph.D Human Development & Human Behavior, University of Pennsylvania (2006)

Approximately 8 days after my late husband was admitted to hospice care, I received a call on the morning of May 7, 2017. The nurse told me he was “transitioning.” For those of you who have never heard that term used, it means his death was imminent and would probably happen in a matter of hours.

After fighting a most courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, the day had come to say goodbye. His body was evacuated and filled with morphine. His mind had been ravaged from all of the chemo he had taken over the last four years.

However, one sense remains: hearing.

The entire family was with him. We all told him what a wonderful man, father and husband he had been and his pain would soon be over. All he had to do was let go.

After we told him it was okay to go, he was gone in less than an hour. This was a most difficult time for all of us and although we wanted him to stay, we gave him “permission” to go.

I truly believe saying goodbye in this unselfish way is best for everyone, especially the person who has suffered from one of the worst diseases I have ever seen.

I never expected to see 2,100 upvotes to this question, but I sincerely wish to thank the dozens of responses from those who shared their heartbreaking stories of losing loved ones who selflessly let go of them at the end of their journey. It made me realize, as complete strangers, we are able to share such intimate memories.

I was especially moved by the words of someone who lost a child. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. It does not matter how long ago your loss was. Closure is a myth. There is no closure—just a “new” normal. We go on, but we are never the same as we were before that person left. We are stronger!

Sharon Spurgin
Tears have to come when reading/thinking of this kind of situation—many of us simply don’t think in terms of giving ‘permission’ to our loved ones to die. It is so very hard to let go, even knowing the end is inevitable, And you are so right when you say there is no closure, just a new normal. Eventually you get used to that empty space in the new normal, but…

Much love to you, Joanne.

Joanne Patterson: Right back at you, Sharon. ❤️

Claudia Surovjak
Sending a hug to you from a current Whipple Warrior caregiver. I also lost my first husband to lung cancer and totally agree it’s important to give them permission to go. The process of dying is hard work for them and they need to be told you will be alright and you’ll see them again soon! I am praying I won’t have to adjust to another “new normal”. This current “new normal” we are going through is tough enough but at least we are doing it together!

Nancy Giguere
Your story brings back memories of when my Mom was dying from lung cancer..We had AMAZING hospice nurses who helped us care for her at her home during her final days with us..They gave us the same advice..They told us any time we had to leave her side to let her know although we had to leave for awhile it was “ok for her to go"…

It was extremely difficult to do because we ALWAYS want to keep our loved ones with us but deep down we want them to also be pain-free..We were very blessed God gave my Mom her last 3 days with us without any pain at all and we will forever be grateful for that gift He gave her.

This advice has also helped me to say goodbye to other friends and family who were in transition by telling them it was “ok for them to go".

Another part to my story…My middle sister was always in denial about how serious our Mother's health was...and I'm sure my Mother knew this…especially when she was close to her death..We had to assure my sister it was ok to leave us to be with her children because that was what Mom would have wanted her to do.

Our Mother died within a half hour after my sister left to be with her children. I am a firm believer it was because my Mom knew she was the one that would have had the hardest time if she was there while my Mom took her final breath and she wanted my sister to be with her family.

A Mother ALWAYS knows what is best for her children..

Amanda Bazar
This just made me cry. My mom had asked me to leave the hospital room the night she died from stage 4 cancer, Adenocarcinoma (small intestine cancer).

I got one final chance to speak with her. She told me it would be too traumatic for me to stay, which it might have been, but I always feel bad for leaving, even though it was her wishes. I wanted to be there for her.

To this day, I wish I had been there. It was pretty hard to go through that at 20 years old. Now, I am 29 years old, so I know how it feels to lose a parent young.

What is crazy, is she got this cancer and it just spread like wildfire. Rewind a year earlier, she was seemingly normal. When we found out she had cancer, it was stage 2 and went into stage 4 within a mere 7 months, even with preventative medical measures and her seeing specialists.

It’s so scary! With Adenocarcinoma, less than one-fifth of patients survive five years or longer. Here are some signs of Adenocarcinoma (if it helps anyone) :

Pain in the belly (abdomen)
Nausea and vomiting.
Weight loss (without trying)
Weakness and feeling tired (fatigue)
Dark-colored stools (from bleeding into the intestine)
Low red blood cell counts (anemia)
Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)

Kevin Nolan
Amanda, thank you for sharing this story. Please do not fault yourself for not being present at the moment of your mother’s death. Some persons appear to wish to die alone. They may put on a brave face while visitors are present and then just slip away an hour later.

Your mother asked you to do something she wished to happen; it was difficult for you, but you honoured her request. Your absence does not suggest any lack of love for her. Your ability to respect her request more than proves your love. The more you love someone, the more it hurts to lose them in death.

JENNIFER A. OKECH
Your story reminds of mine, both my parents died after I had left the ward. My mother died of cancer about 5 minutes after I had stepped out to wash cups right outside the ward.

She had been restless for more than 8 hours but had by that time calm down, when I got to the entrance of the ward, it was another patient's relative who broke the sad news to me. I wished I had stayed, I still wish I had stayed until her final moment, but maybe it was her wish and God's for me not to see her breathe her last.

Same with my father, who died seven years earlier. He had a kidney disease. My mother told me he died a few minutes after I had left the hospital to go look for money for his treatment.

I remember I didn't want to let go of his hand that night, but had to, I told him I would be back, I didn't know it was our goodbye moment.

My cousin rang me about 15 minutes or 30 minutes later, asking that my brother and I rush to the hospital, Daddy’s condition was getting worse. His driver drove me home to pick up my brother, we got to the hospital only to find my cousin and paternal auntie wailing in the ward corridor.

I rushed to his bed and he was gone, with my mother, by his bedside, trying to stay strong for us. I kept wishing I had stayed, but I guess, it was probably their wish and God's for their children not watch them breathe their last.

With my dad, our youngest was in lower primary so he only got to know Dad was gone after everyone else, we left him in bed when rushing back to the hospital.

When my mother died, he was in boarding school, a year to his O'Level National exams. He didn't even know Mama had cancer or she was not well, we didn't tell him on his school visitation day, I didn't have the courage to face him so I asked my follower to go to the school visitation without me.

Our mother was “fine” when he went to school, so it must have been tough for him to understand how his mother had ended up dead, two months into his school term. We have never talked about how we feel as a family. Sometimes I want to have a chat with him about it but afraid it would be a painful chat for him, he never got the chance to say goodbye.

M. A. Steinberger
I am sorry those upvotes were a surprise. Your simple, honest answer moved me to a lump in my throat, and I do not cry easily.

I am very glad you could be with him. Even when the person can no longer respond physically, they hear and are comforted by your words and presence.

Marlene Fischer
Joanne and Family, you each and all gave him a most precious gift. I know - because I gave permission to my beloved husband on the same day as his diagnosis of Esophageal Cancer - second only to pancreatic cancer. He thanked me and said he was going to fight for as long as he had good quality of Life.

When things were bad, I reminded him - and he was grateful. He wanted to do a video but didn’t get around to it - until my son asked him if he would like to do a video. My son sent me and his wife out of the room - and about a half hour later, called us back in. My husband told him to not show me the video until after he was gone.

Four hours later, my beloved died - in my arms, as he said he would do his best to do!!

Two days later, my son asked me if I wanted to watch the video alone after he left town or with him so I would not be by myself. We watched it together. VERY powerful - and, as per usual, my husband had a wonderful sense of humor and thanked my son, along with individual messages for his sons.

I had no idea when or how but a couple of weeks later, I spotted a VHS in the tv stand and watched it - my husband had put together our trip to WA and on the ship and during the excursions around Alaska.

Oh my!!! Our laughter was amazing — and then wondered how he managed to leave 5 voice messages on my computer - and every day for 1 year, I received an email from him telling me how much he loves me.

You are a blessing to your husband and your family.

Melissa Raymond
Hi Joanne-I have tears in my eyes as I lost my dear dad to this terrible disease in January.

He had back pain all of his life, and it got really bad over the holiday's last year. He went to the emergency room on New Year's Eve, that's when they took tests and he had Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer.

We were all devastated. He passed on a week later with the whole family by his side. I still miss him everyday and you are right just a "new" normal. Nice to know we have this community.

JENNIFER A. OKECH
I also agree with you, Joanne, there's no closure, we just have to keep living with the huge gap. We are never the same as before the person left.

My mother died of cancer three years ago, the day before my nephew, her first grandchild was born. My father died 9 years 11 months ago, on the eve of my birthday, 45 minutes to midnight, 3 months to my undergraduate graduation day, both these deaths left a huge gap, which still hurts like it happened a few days ago, we are a young family, I took on the parenting role for our youngest sibling who is now about to sit his A'Level National exams in Uganda.

I got a scholarship to do my Master's in the UK, the week my mother left, I travelled a month and two weeks later, but it was tough having to balance books and intense grief. I went into severe grief depression, but thankfully, managed to pass and graduate. I'm back to Uganda ( two years now), trying to do the best I can to try to have a “new normal” and support my family. The huge gap left by our parents has changed our lives, nothing can ever be the same, but we keep growing stronger each day.

Renisha Singh
Saying goodbye is never easy, and being less selfish and letting the person take enormous strength and courage. Am sure, your husband loves you more than ever for making his transition easier.
